Novidon welcomes the report of Starch Europe’s position on the EU Farm to Fork strategy. In line with Starch Europe’s strategy to uphold the EU Green Deal ambition to achieve climate neutrality by 2050, Novidon contributes to a EU sustainable food system.
We are Europe’s largest purchaser of sidestream potato starch from the potato processing industry. Sidestream potato starch recovery enables manufacturers of French fries and crisps to realize up to 50% water saving due to water re-use and lower their CO2 emissions because energy saving.
The sidestream potato starch is refined into native starch for food, pet food and industrial applications. Sidestream potato starch has a 60% lower carbon footprint than potato starch which is processed in a traditional way from the whole potato.
By valorizing sidestream potato starch of the potato industry, potatoes are optimally used. In this way Novidon contributes to a circular agrifood system which is in line with the EU Farm to Fork strategy.
